Dating from 1470, La Nencia da Barberino is an early poetic work by Lorenzo de’ Medici. Composed at the Villa Medicea di Cafaggiolo—his favourite hunting retreat—Lorenzo personifies himself as the crude shepherd Vallèra who has fallen in love with the beautiful Nencia, a fictional peasant girl of the area.
As the love muse of Lorenzo, we dedicate our Rosato to La Nencia who is represented simply by the rosa to which she is compared in the fourth stanza of the poem.

- Harvest and Fermentation
- All the grapes are hand harvested and carefully selected on our sorting tables. The must is soaked in Pinot Noir grape skins for 4 hours before fermentation, which extracts the berries' colour to achieve the perfect rose tint. The skins are then removed and the must ferments in stainless steel containers under a controlled temperature to preserve the colour.
- Ageing
- After fermentation, the wine remains in stainless steel to clarify, then it is bottled. After bottling, the wine is left to rest for a further 3 months before being released.
