The last of the Medici, Anna Maria Luisa (1667-1716) created the Patto di Famiglia, which stipulated that Medicean treasures collected over three centuries of political ascendancy could not be sold or removed from Florence. On her marriage in 1691 to Johann Wilhelm, the Elector Palatine, Anna Maria Luisa gained her title, the Electress Palatine.

Buried with her Electress Palatine crown, Anna Maria Luisa is the ultimate bella figura – reason enough for this fine Chardonnay to honour her name.

Harvest and Fermentation
Hand harvested in small boxes and selected on sorting tables, the grapes are pressed at a low temperature to extract the bouquet and preserve the colour. The wine ferments in French oak vats under a controlled temperature. The Chardonnay then undergoes malolactic fermentation and ageing in French oak barriques, making it smoother, full of tertiary aromas and enhancing its complexity.
After a period in barriques, the wine rests in stainless steel vats where it clarifies naturally without filtration. It is then bottled and rests for a minimum of 3 months before release. This production method allows the wine to last for up to 5-6 years and continues to evolve due to the fact that we use natural corks.
