The Estate
Cafaggiolo Terre Dei Medici is a majestic estate amid the green and fertile Mugello valley just north of Florence.
Amid the rolling landscape sits the majestic Castle of Cafaggiolo. Transformed in the 15th century from a gaunt fortress to a spectacular castellated villa by the celebrated Florentine architect Michelozzo di Bartolomeo, this place was one of the oldest and most treasured possessions of the House of Medici.
Here, in its grand halls and sweeping parks, gathered princes, popes, poets and painters, creating one of the richest centres in the cultural and artistic flowering of the Italian Renaissance.
In the hands of the Medici family from mid 14th until the early 18th century, the new custodian owners are resorting and reviving the spirit of Renaissance court life.
